New chapbook published

birth-1464901I’m delighted to announce my début chapbook of poetry has just been published with Smithereens Press. Rootless is now free to read online. I first discovered Smithereens as a reader when searching for poetry by Christine Murray, and found even more offerings by poets I also admired including Doireann Ní Ghríofa, David Wheatley, Colm Scully and Tom French. There I also read Dylan Brennan and Billy Mills for the first time, poets whose work I’ve been taking note of ever since. It’s been important to me to find a ‘home’ for my writing where I could feel some pride in residency, and going on the strength of the work at Smithereens, it was a real buzz to receive an acceptance letter from editor Kenneth Keating. Kenneth was fantastic to work with, encouraging me to follow a more contemporary approach to structure, rather than forcing them into the traditional shapes the poems were resisting. (And how about this amazing image he found for the cover by Margus Kyttä?) For this experience, I’m grateful.
